New years Eve in Sydney proved to be a little too hard this year, so I stayed in watched the most incredible fireworks ever and jotted down all the things I wanted to achieve in the next decade, said goodbye to the previous decade, gave thanks to all the successes of 2009 and prior and sianarra to all the failures, put my feet up and ate my favourite meal.

Once the fireworks were over and the new year had began I stayed to watch a little piece of history on TV, something I hadn’t seen since I was about 6 years old. The Movie : ‘Can’t Stop The Music’.

Talk about going in a time machine. Im a big fan of The Village People. It reminds me of a key time in my childhood and many a road trip with my family down to Canberra and The Blue mountains, its up there with ABBA.

So I started to watch and noticed one key factor – the fashion. It looked like an old movie but the fashion looked not dissimilar to what we are seeing now.

Its the late 70’s early 80’s look. The makeup and hair looked like what we are seeing now but less refined and yes, Steve Guttenberg’s white pants were a little too tight but his colourful Tshirts and dance moves looked pretty current.

Bruce Jenner (AKA step father to the Kardashian Girls) looked, well, different, sporting his previous face (before the plastic surgery) he looks rather nice and his dress sense very enlightening. He wore suits throughout the whole movie.

While I can’t really tell you much about the story line, I can tell you the music is great (because its Village People) tracks the whole way through, there is dancing, big hair, Glittery things, lots of dancing and a look at what I think is going to be fashion for the next 12 -24 months. The decor in the houses and apartments was also a little snippet of what I see in Kelly Wearstler’s Interior design work with bamboo showing up everywhere, and the odd splash of loud colour and one or two very large objects in a room.

♣ So if you want to have a good laugh and look at some of the lost fashion files, head to your local DVD shop and rent this movie. If anything its just fun to watch, a little cheesy but all in all a good 120 minutes of glitz, glamour and dancing.♥

For those who know me, they know I love TV. The style network fresh from the USA has hit our screens here in Australia. Foxtel recently introdued a selection of new channels.

About three weeks ago I broke my little toe. What sounds like a very insignificant injury turned into one very sore black and blue foot and in turn a weekend of uninterrupted TV watching (which meant the whole foot being elevated .. on a cushion on the coffee table).

It was a hard job but someone had to do it.♥

This weekend of TV saw the launch of The Style Network channel my new style companion…

My favourite show is ‘Peter Perfect’.

This wiry english man resembling Austen Powers goes into unsuspecting businesses across America and gives them and their retail shops a make over. He is a well known celebrity hairdresser residing in Beverly Hills. Let me tell you the make overs are amazing and the business advice is spot on. The personal makeovers are the icing on the cake as it really does make a huge difference. Its quiet inspirational…..

Foxtel

The Style Network – channel 122
