My most recent obsession is decorating with vintage and modern plates. Ive been spending many a weekend searching the world for plates.

Its not easy when you have a very specific look in mind, and want all vintage unique and one off numbers. But when I really looked I found that my ‘brilliant and unique’ idea was really an idea that many other like minded designers had. So in my burst of creative energy collecting and researching I managed to rustle up my own mood board for the project at hand. Im officially obsessed and soon to have my collection hanging in the new and revamped living room.

When I was about 10 I would sit on the weekend and make multicolored pompoms, my whole world at one point was finding out how big could a pompom get? I remember even my brother joined in as he wanted to see just how big a pompom could get.. But those days are fair gone and now its just nice to see that pompoms are showing up on runways and in magazines, on tables and as fashion accessories around the world.

I think they are on their way back……. ♥

What is so fascinating about this day and age is the variety of incredible handmade ‘things’ that exist. As Xmas approaches I have had the excuse to spend hours researching all the most beautiful gifts and decorations. As part of my daily work I make a point of visiting many websites, looking at blogs, magazines from Australia and abroad and mentally collaging my top 10 or in this case top 20 things I love for Xmas decorating. Gone are the days of the tacky gold tinsel and glitter clad Santa’s. Its all style and taste in 2009. On my daily trip to ♥ www.marthastewart.com I waft from page to page and imagine that all the gingerbread cookies and boiled candy treats are all awaiting me in my kitchen.. (not to mention the late nights watching Martha on Foxtel’s How To Channel).

And the smell of spices, I can only imagine the smell of the cookies baking, the real xmas tree freshly picked from the forest.. and in Sunny Sydney here in Australia I dream of the ever so sweet white xmas….(in my dreams)

There is nothing more beautiful than the smell of the freshly fallen crisp snow on Xmas morning…. (I can only dream).
